About This Script
A pompous scientist, Professor Argle-Bargle, arrives to demonstrate his formula for producing the perfect Christian—by chemically combining the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit. BOY is excited; GIRL is skeptical. The experiment fails spectacularly, and the Professor’s own behavior reveals the flaw in his theory: only Jesus can produce true love, joy, peace, and the rest. His assistants begin to understand what the children already know.

BRAVE suggests a Bible story that might help, and the scene shifts to three spies returning from Canaan: faithful CALEB, and the fearful NAHBI and GEUEL, who can only see the giants. After the spies exit, TIMID has found his courage: next time the big kids show up, he will remember that God is bigger.

Two modern children discuss Christmas giving, and CHILD 2 learns that the best presents don’t require money. A cast of stable animals—BABY LAMB, MAMA SHEEP, ROOSTER, and DONKEY—play out the night of Jesus’s birth from their perspective, discovering that the mysterious Someone in the manger is the Son of God. When the children return, CHILD 2 leaves with a new understanding of what Christmas is really about.
